i don’t want to buy a boxee receiver. it looks like that if you buy an external splitter with multiple ports, or one with three ports, you only can use one port and that port must be the one that has the external hdmi input cable. it seems like the best solution at this time is to buy a piece of hardware that has many hdmi inputs and a usb port for computer input. the problem with that is that they are very expensive. in the past, i was able to take my setup and split the tv off into a separate power supply and vga and connect the vga to my roku box directly. i ran my tablet off the roku with vlc player to save space. i would switch between the vga and hdmi input ports on my tablet to record on the tv. this worked for me just fine. i’m trying to find a way to take a screen recording of a phone video with the vlc media player. i don’t know if that is possible or not. i’m guessing it probably isn’t, because the software isn’t designed to do it. i have some multiple video splitters that are all in good working condition. when i started recording with the actual tv it was fine. when the system rebooted i could record and playback. today i started using the el gato hd60s. i have now broken the input on that system. i have unplugged everything in the mix to rule out the components. my guess is that the splitter is not in good shape. i am trying a different cable, but the other components stay in place. just ran on linux mint 16, with the gma 500 graphics. is there a way to completely reset the system, or maybe to reinstall and reconfigure the drivers?
